A 1-2 loss to Marseille drops Strasbourg’s opportunity to tune the week in their favour.
With uncertainty and turmoil among match going Strasbourg fans over the animated support towards the Chelsea backed French side in recent weeks, Strasbourg giveaway a crucial lead to drop points.
They lead the scoreboard for more than 2/3rd’s of the game, however it was an effective masterclass from Marseille that pulled the string their way. Late goals from Aubameyang and Murillo cancelled Ouattara’s opener.
The hosts would leave the pitch in dejection, almost unresponsive to what was a very good effort in general, but a drop in tempo saw them pay the cost. With 6 games played in Ligue 1, they find themselves in 5th spot with 12 points, level on points with the leaders Marseille.
Olympique Marseille’s route to this game came after a stellar win vs defending champions PSG last gameweek.
Key Performers:
Ismaël Doukoure – The French talent started the game in midfield, in correspondence to his usual LCB spot for his club. A confident performance that highlighted his steep passing range, smart positioning, effective duelling, usage of body, smart carrying and time of pass.

He’s got a seamless ability to cover ground, the intensity in duelling where he won the most duels in the game (8) and the aggressive approach to the game brings in shades of confidence within his teammates.

Although having the least touches of any player to play 90 minutes, he managed to create the most chances in the game (2), such great crosses and dribbles from the left flank.
